If you’ve recently e-filed your taxes, you can check the status of your tax refund on the IRS page, “Where’s my refund?”  On this page you’ll need to provide your SSN, filing status, and the exact refund amount you are expecting to receive.  

The IRS updates this page every night and will display the information as soon as 24 hours after you’ve e-filed or within 4 weeks if you’ve mailed your return. 

How Long Does it Take to Get a Tax Refund?

Typically the IRS sends out tax refunds in about 21 days. If you still have not received your refund after 21 days of e-filing your taxes, 

After logging in to the refund checker, you may also see a prompt to contact the IRS. This may be part of the reason why your refund is delayed. 

How to Contact the IRS About My Refund?

If you have not received your refund after 6 weeks, it might be worth calling the IRS to check on the status.

Should I Call TurboTax?

There really isn’t a reason to call TurboTax if you e-filed with them. You should have been able to print a confirmation page or received an email with your completed tax return. Double-check to make sure everything appears to be correct and that your transaction went through completely.
